Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine is an enigmatic singer, composer and performer. The singer combines soul gospel jazz with R&B to create a unique mix. She's performed on Broadway, during the Democratic National Convention and in the European clubs and festivals. Sunshine's the name of Denise White. Although she lives in Atlanta she was born in Chester Pennsylvania. Her musical experience began at the church where she sang and was a pianist. In Atlanta she was a student at Spellman College where her musical instruction began with Atlanta's R&B Scene. The Fighting Temptations The first single to feature her vocals was called Stalk You which was a house 12-inch released only in Japan It was later remixed by many producers and remains a staple of her live sets. Her voice was also added to the soundtrack of The Fighting Temptations. She was the main keyboardist at Tyler Perry's stage production Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy- and Tony Award winning vocalist who was part of the stage production Dreamgirls in the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, contacted her to be the choral leader for the production. Sunshine received national attention during her four daily performances in 2008 at the Democratic National Convention. She was invited to perform at President Barack Obama's 2009 inauguration.
